I am running Windows 7 64-bit, and am having a horrible time with the error box "COM Surrogate has stopped working". The solutions I have found online apply to 32-bit like this one https://techloris.com/com-surrogate-has-stopped-working/

Who can tell me how to get rid of this aggravating problem with a 64-bit Win7 system? I encounter this almost always when using Photoshop 7 or CS3. But I also have seen it when trying to print an image with Windows Explorer.

Appreciate any help!

COM Surrogate is the executable host process (dllhost.exe) which runs in the background, while you are navigating through files and folders and this can be caused due to the corrupt codecs. You can download codecs and manually solve this problem by downloading the codec.

PS: There are more than 1 solution available to solve the same problem.

Hope it helps.

Thanks, but that's the same reply I received from one of my friends and I have not found those fixes to resolve the problem. It may stop the Error message, but it does not terminate the (dllhost.exe) process.
